These Nevada Goldback foil notes contain 1/40 oz of .999 fine Gold which is the first local, voluntary currency to be made of a spendable, beautiful, physical Gold.
The Goldback project truly began in spirit with the passage of the Utah Legal Tender Act in 2011 which recognized certain types of Gold as currency within the state. Since that time the technology to mint Gold into a spendable form for small transactions has come to fruition.
Currency Highlights:
- Contains 1/40 oz (0.025 oz) of .999 fine Gold.
- Face: Lady Fortitudine — Latin for Fortitude — depicted as Nike, the Greek winged goddess. The theme represents virtue over vice, and she is shown blowing a trumpet of triumph. She is also wearing a laurel wreath and holding a palm leaf in her left hand in a symbol of triumph. The background features Red Rock Canyon, the state’s first National Conservation Area. At the bottom one can see a tortoise, the state reptile of Nevada. Pouncing on the tortoise is a Bobcat to symbolize overcoming vices. Nestled near them is a sagebrush, the state flower of Nevada.
- Back: Blanks.
